GoFundMe Day 1

Yesterday I made a GoFundMe account in hopes of collecting a little funding from anyone who wanted to give a helping hand. As of now, we are at $570.00.
Amazing!
I’m so thankful for all of these supporters. I never knew Kenzie’s Helping Hands had such a fan base, although, I am thrilled to have discovered this. The goal is set for $1000.00 because GoFundMe requires a set amount, but in actuality there isn’t a set amount I need to raise.
My main intention with the funding is to cover filament costs for 3D printing– as we need to print test hands of every kind– but I’m also looking into finding another outlet to promote more awareness. This time, to a larger audience. Quite honestly, I’m not sure how to initiate this course of action, but I’m going to give it my best effort!

My third Lucky Fin Project Weekend just came to an end! For anyone who doesn’t know, my first Lucky Fin Weekend in 2017 is what changed my life and prompted me to want to do as much as I can for the limb different community. I’ve met so many amazing people and developed so many relationships I never thought I’d have! It’s the most meaningful experience to have friendships with other limb different people because we all have so much in common! This year I got to meet my new best friend Lily! Lily and I have been friends on the internet for over a year now, so it was such a joy to get to meet her in person. Though we live so far away, we’ve planned some trips to take together in the near future. Lucky Fin Project Weekend 2019 was a blast! We had attendees from 23 states and 4 countries, totaling to a near 700 people. Thank you to everyone who bought Lucky Fin shirts in 2017-2018! You guys rock!

Exploring Career Paths

Recently, I have begun discerning types of careers which I could pursue that involve working with the limb different community. I feel incorporating my passions into my job would offer me the most meaningful and fulfilling career. So far, I have explored options in the sports adaptive community such as Paralympics and Nike, as well as the prosthetic device industry, such as Coapt and Hanger. The future is bright, and I am so thankful to know all of these amazing people who are helping me along the way!

I hope many of you saw Microsoft's Super Bowl commercial regarding their new Xbox Adaptive Controller . The Ad reached #3 on USA Today's Super Bowl Ad Meter ! This controller provides gaming accessibility for individuals facing challenging physical conditions. First of all, I am so incredibly proud of the level of publicity the advertisement reached. It's totaled millions of views, and I believe a Super Bowl commercial signifies one of the largest campaigns for limb difference awareness the world has seen! I think it will give kids a new sense of pride in themselves to know they're not alone, and the "big guys" care about the problems they face so much they decided to make it easier for them to play video games with their friends. I cannot effectively emphasize how wrong I feel the amount of discrimination limb different kids typically face is, whether it be unintentional or intentional. I hope this Ad prompts a wave of attention for the issues limb differ
