Speaking to Girls Who Code

Image
This past week, I had the opportunity to talk to the Girls Who Code group at Mount Vernon Junior High School. The girls were super supportive of what I had to say as I aimed my speech to educate them on prosthetics and what life is like being limb different. They asked great questions and hopefully earned a new respect for the limb different community.

Elle’s Hand

Finished Elle’s hand! She loves Harry Potter, so her mom requested the Deathly Hallows symbol to be added to her device.

April — My Favorite Month

Image
April is here and you know what that means— Limb Difference Awareness Month! This year, I’m preaching body positivity and acceptance. I’m proud of my difference, and I’m proud to say I do everything in my power to make the phrase, “you can’t do this” meaningless. This month is exciting for me because it highlights a time in which my friends and I are celebrated, whereas we’re typically overlooked or ridiculed. I hope more people learn to celebrate the limb different individuals they know this April, and make them feel appreciated, not less. ♥️
